Product Overview

The Indoor/Outdoor 50/125 OM3 Multimode Preterminated Fiber Optic Assemblies deliver top-of-the-line 10Gbps performance and are designed for seamless connectivity in demanding environments. Built with Corning® ClearCurve® glass, these assemblies ensure low attenuation, high bandwidth, and reliable performance over distances of up to 300 meters at 850nm wavelength. Designed to withstand indoor and outdoor environments, these assemblies feature a UV-resistant and water-blocking jacket for added protection. With pre-terminated connectors, each assembly is fully factory-tested and ready for fast and efficient installation. Perfect for underground conduits, multi-floor deployments, and inter-building connectivity, these assemblies provide tailored solutions to meet a variety of networking needs.

QuickTreX® Indoor/Outdoor Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Assemblies are perfect for connecting the networks of two buildings through the use of an underground conduit. This fiber is suitable for Indoor and Outdoor use, so there is no 50 foot fire code requirement traditionally found with Outdoor cable. The Indoor/Outdoor cable has a water blocking aramid yarn strength member surrounding the fiber optic strands to protect from situations where light water infiltration may exist like in an under ground conduit or also in an Indoor situation where the assembly may be exposed to a damp or moist environment.

QuickTreX® brand, custom Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Assemblies have a longstanding reputation for quality and reliability. When we receive your custom order, we build the assembly to your specifications using the finest materials to our exacting standards. The assembly is made in the USA by skilled technicians under controlled conditions and comes to you fully tested and ready for immediate installation.

Standard QuickTreX® Micro-Distribution Features:

  • All Pre-Terminated Micro-Distribution Assemblies will be custom made at the time of your order, built with Corning® fiber and premium components to your specifications.
  • All micro-distribution assemblies will be constructed using 12 strand grouped breakouts. Each strand will be reinforced with 2mm furcation tubing which helps ruggedize each strand and help protect it during installation. Each strand will Include a sequential numerical label. Each 12 strand breakout kit will also be sequentially labeled to help identify each strand on opposite ends of your assembly.
  • The buffer tubes will be securely fastened to each 12 strand breakout kit using high strength adhesive type heat shrink tubing.
  • The first main breakout will be 12 inches from the main jacket and each group of 12 strands will include a 36" breakout. The main 12 inch breakouts kits will include a 6" stagger.
  • The connectors itself will also be staggered to minimize the size of the pulling basket which will be approximately 1".
  • One wrap around label will be attached to each end of the cable assembly for identification. The label text includes the cable part number and a unique serialized number.
  • Pulling Eyes (pulling baskets), if equipped are made from super strong polyethylene mesh and feature a free-spinning buckle to eliminate twisting of the cable during the pull.
  • Heat shrink tubing will be used at:
    • The transition from the buffer tubes to the cable jacket.
    • The transition of each 12 strand inner cable to the breakout kit
    • Where the basket meets with the turn buckle (pull eye hook)
    • Where the basket ends and connects with the cables jacket

    Micro-Distribution Features:

    • Perfect for High Density Infrastructures
    • Saves Space in Data Racks, Cabinets, and Closets
    • Constructed of the highest quality materials
    • Made to exacting industry standards
    • Tested to meet or exceed EIA/TIA 568/ GR-409-CORE
    • All aramid tensile strength members within sub-units
    • Smaller cable diameter & more flexibility

    Applications Include:

    • Headend Termination to a fiber "backbone"
    • Termination of fiber rack systems
    • Multi-floor deployment where select fibers are used at each floor
    • Intra-building "backbones"

    Indoor/Outdoor Installation Information:

Best Suited for: Indoor/Outdoor cables are approved for use in underground conduits, even if the possibility of water infiltration exists due to its water blocking aramid strength members. It can also be used for standard Outdoor applications since it is UV resistant, but it is not rated for direct burial (see Outdoor Fiber).

The advantage of using Indoor/Outdoor over standard Outdoor cable is that it does not have the 50 foot restriction for indoor installation that standard outdoor cable has. This cable has an overall PVC sheath and is not rated for plenum spaces.  It has a durable jacket that adds extra protection during installation and in rugged applications.
    * Plenum rated Indoor/Outdoor jacket can be used upon request.

Strand Count Breakdown & Rationale

2 and 4 strands are ideal for small-scale setups requiring straightforward connections or minimal redundancy. 6 to 12 strands add more versatility, supporting multiple pathways for data and voice systems. Further up the scale, 18 to 24 strands allow for reliable redundancy and segmentation in medium infrastructure setups like campuses or healthcare facilities. For 36+ strands, subunitized designs are introduced, enabling manageable deployment in high-density applications such as data centers or metro networks, ensuring superior scalability while maintaining organization.

Typical Applications by Industry

  • Data Centers: High-speed, low-latency connections between servers and racks.
  • Educational Institutions: Multi-building connections for seamless campus-wide communication.
  • Healthcare Facilities: Stable and secure pathways for imaging, patient data, and telehealth systems.
  • Telecommunications: Backbone infrastructure for reliable inter-building fiber networks.
  • Enterprises: Offers scalable solutions supporting departmental redundancy and device-centric layouts.
  • Metro Networks: Handles high-capacity data flows across long-distance urban setups.

Questions & Answers

Q
What is a pre-terminated fiber optic assembly?
A
A pre-terminated fiber optic assembly is a complete optical cable solution that comes with connectors already attached to the fiber strands. These assemblies include components such as fiber cables, connectors, protective jackets, and pulling eyes, all designed to provide a seamless installation experience.
Q
What length options are there for pre-terminated assemblies?
A
Pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies can be custom ordered to your desired length (10 feet or up to 5,000 feet.) according to your specific requirements. The assemblies are made to order based on the length you need. All assemblies 100ft and over will be placed on a spool for easy installation. Assemblies under 100ft will be neatly air spooled.
Q
What is a pulling eye?
A
A pulling eye is an additional attachment on pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies designed to facilitate installation. It provides a sturdy attachment point for your pull string or rope, allowing you to pull the cable through conduits or tight spaces without damaging the connectors or fiber strands. The benefit of using a pulling eye is that it reduces the risk of damage during installation, especially in complex pathways or confined spaces.
Q
What connectors can it get on fiber optic assembly?
A
Common connector types available for pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies include LC, SC, ST, FC, and MTP/MPO connectors. Connectors are staggered to reduce the pulling basket diameter and promote an easy and more flexible cable pull. Plastic wrap is also applied to prevent contamination during installation
Q
What is a LC connector?
A
An LC (Lucent Connector) connector is one of the most common types of cable connectors used in fiber optic networks. It utilizes a 1.25mm ferrule (half that of FC, SC, and ST) and push-pull latch mechanism for secure and easy connections
