Product Overview

The Indoor Plenum 50/125 OM4 Multimode Preterminated Fiber Optic Assemblies are engineered to support high-speed, high-capacity networking, making them suitable for modern infrastructure requirements. Built with Corning® ClearCurve® glass, these assemblies provide exceptional bandwidth and support data rates up to 100G over 550 meters at 850nm. The assemblies feature a plenum-rated (OFNP) jacket, ensuring compliance with NFPA fire safety standards for indoor use in ducts, trays, and plenum spaces. Pre-terminated and rigorously tested, they deliver seamless installation and unmatched reliability, making them perfect for data centers, multi-floor deployments, fiber rack terminations, and intra-building backbones.

Our QuickTreX® Custom Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Assemblies have a longstanding reputation for quality and reliability. When we receive your custom order, we build the assembly to your specifications using the finest materials to our exacting standards. The assembly is made in the USA by skilled technicians under controlled conditions and comes to you fully tested and ready for immediate installation.

Our indoor plenum rated jacket assemblies are rated for all indoor installations, including plenum rated spaces. A cable rated for plenum installation will have low-smoke characteristics as defined by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency).

Typical Applications Include:

  • Headend Termination to a fiber "backbone"
  • Termination of fiber rack systems
  • Multi-floor deployment where select fibers are used at each floor
  • Intra-building "backbones"

Standard QuickTreX® Micro-Distribution Features:

  • All Pre-Terminated Micro-Distribution Assemblies will be custom made at the time of your order, built with Corning® fiber and premium components to your specifications.
  • All micro-distribution assemblies will be constructed using 12 strand grouped breakouts. Each strand will be reinforced with 2mm furcation tubing which helps ruggedize each strand and help protect it during installation. Each strand will include a sequential numerical label. Each 12 strand breakout kit will also be sequentially labeled to help identify each strand on opposite ends of your assembly.
  • The buffer tubes will be securely fastened to each 12 strand breakout kit using high strength adhesive type heat shrink tubing.
  • The first main breakout will be 12 inches from the main jacket and each group of 12 strands will include a 36" breakout. The main 12 inch breakouts kits will include a 6" stagger.
  • The connectors itself will also be staggered to minimize the size of the pulling basket which will be approximately 1".
  • Heat shrink tubing will be used at:
    1. The transition from the buffer tubes to the cable jacket.
    2. The transition of each 12 strand inner cable to the breakout kit
    3. Where the basket meets with the turn buckle (pull eye hook)
    4. Where the basket ends and connects with the cables jacket
  • One wrap around label will be attached to each end of the cable assembly for identification. The label text includes the cable part number and a unique serialized number.
  • Pulling Eyes (pulling baskets), if equipped are made from super strong polyethylene mesh and feature a free-spinning buckle to eliminate twisting of the cable during the pull.

Micro-Distribution Features:

  • Perfect for High Density Infrastructures
  • Saves Space in Data Racks, Cabinets, and Closets
  • Constructed of the highest quality materials
  • Made to exacting industry standards
  • Tested to meet or exceed EIA/TIA 568/ GR-409-CORE
  • All aramid tensile strength members within sub-units
  • Smaller cable diameter & more flexibility

Strand Count Breakdown & Rationale

The strand count correlates directly to a network's scalability and functionality. 2-strand assemblies are ideal for simple point-to-point links. 4 to 12 strands allow for moderate growth, supporting redundancy and segmented data connections. 18 to 36 strands address medium-sized industrial or campus networks requiring high versatility. For large-scale operations in data centers or metro networks, 48 to 144 strands with subunitized designs provide robust scalability and easy management while handling substantial data loads.

Typical Applications by Industry

  • Data Centers: Supports high-density connections for servers and switches.
  • Telecommunications: Enables metro and backbone network deployments.
  • Healthcare Facilities: Delivers seamless communication for diagnostics and telehealth.
  • Educational Institutions: Powers campus-wide connectivity for classrooms, labs, and administration.
  • Enterprise Networks: Handles multiple device connections with reliable redundancy.
  • Retail Locations: Optimized for point-of-sale systems and centralized operations.

Questions & Answers

Q
What is a pre-terminated fiber optic assembly?
A
A pre-terminated fiber optic assembly is a complete optical cable solution that comes with connectors already attached to the fiber strands. These assemblies include components such as fiber cables, connectors, protective jackets, and pulling eyes, all designed to provide a seamless installation experience.
Q
What length options are there for pre-terminated assemblies?
A
Pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies can be custom ordered to your desired length (10 feet or up to 5,000 feet.) according to your specific requirements. The assemblies are made to order based on the length you need. All assemblies 100ft and over will be placed on a spool for easy installation. Assemblies under 100ft will be neatly air spooled.
Q
What is a pulling eye?
A
A pulling eye is an additional attachment on pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies designed to facilitate installation. It provides a sturdy attachment point for your pull string or rope, allowing you to pull the cable through conduits or tight spaces without damaging the connectors or fiber strands. The benefit of using a pulling eye is that it reduces the risk of damage during installation, especially in complex pathways or confined spaces.
Q
What connectors can it get on fiber optic assembly?
A
Common connector types available for pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies include LC, SC, ST, FC, and MTP/MPO connectors. Connectors are staggered to reduce the pulling basket diameter and promote an easy and more flexible cable pull. Plastic wrap is also applied to prevent contamination during installation
Q
What is a LC connector?
A
An LC (Lucent Connector) connector is one of the most common types of cable connectors used in fiber optic networks. It utilizes a 1.25mm ferrule (half that of FC, SC, and ST) and push-pull latch mechanism for secure and easy connections
