Product Overview

The Indoor/Outdoor Singlemode Preterminated Fiber Optic Assemblies combine industry-leading quality and exceptional performance to deliver long-distance connectivity solutions. Designed with Corning® SMF-28® Ultra Glass, these assemblies provide minimal signal loss and consistent high-speed performance, making them ideal for mission-critical applications. The assemblies are encased in a flame-retardant PVC jacket with optional plenum or riser ratings to meet stringent safety requirements. Whether used for inter-building connections, campus networks, or seamless indoor-to-outdoor transitions, these assemblies ensure reliability and efficiency. Each product is pre-terminated and thoroughly tested, offering a plug-and-play solution that expedites installation and enhances overall performance.

Our one-of-a-kind QuickTreX® Custom Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies are made in the USA and have a longstanding reputation of 25+ years for premium quality and reliability that cannot be beat. Typical Indoor/Outdoor Jacket Applications:

Our Indoor/Outdoor Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies are perfect for connecting the networks of two buildings through the use of an underground conduit, headend termination to a fiber backbone, termination of fiber rack systems, multi-floor deployment where select fibers are used at each floor, or intra-building backbones. This cable is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, so there is no 50 foot fire code requirement traditionally found with outdoor (OSP) cable. This indoor/outdoor cable has a water blocking aramid yarn strength member surrounding the fiber optic strands and a UV resistant outer jacket making it a very versatile and perfect choice for a large variety of installations.  This cable can be installed and left exposed in outdoor locations where blunt force or rodent chew damage is not a concern.

We offer our indoor/outdoor assemblies in an optional plenum rated jacket which is perfect for installations that transition from an outdoor location such as an underground conduit, to an interior location that requires a plenum rated jacket such as ventilation shafts.  A cable rated for plenum installation will have low-smoke characteristics as defined by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency).

Standard QuickTreX® Manufacturing Features:

  • Fast Custom ISO 9001 Certified Manufacturing in the USA. 2-millimeter color coded or sequentially labeled furcation tubing is installed on each strand for easy identification and extra durability before, during, and after the pull.
  • Heat shrink tubing and glue set is used at the transition from the jacket to the furcation tubing providing superior strength and strain relief while pulling the assembly.
  • Connectors inside the basket are staggered for less bulk and more flexibility.
  • Each connector is individually plastic wrapped to prevent contamination by pulling lubricants and/or other contaminants.
  • Each assembly includes a wrap around-label on both ends of the assembly which will include the QuickTreX® part number and individual serial number.
  • Each Assembly includes a full test report. During our testing process all fiber ends are visually inspected with a fiberscope of 400 power or better for surface defects including, cracking, pitting, and scratches, on the glass surface of the connector.  All connector ends are then tested utilizing a professional grade Loss Test Set
  • The test report is saved in our database for 1 year and can be requested at any time.
  • Pulling Eyes (pulling baskets) if equipped are made from super strong polyethylene mesh and feature a free-spinning buckle to eliminate twisting of the cable during the pull. Heat shrink tubing is used at:
    1. Where the basket meets with the turnbuckle (pull eye hook)
    2. Where the basket ends and connects with the cable jacket to prevent snags and promote a smooth pull.
  • All assemblies 100ft and over will be placed on a spool for easy installation. Assemblies under 100ft will be neatly air spooled.

Strand Count Breakdown & Rationale

Choosing the right strand count is essential for building an efficient and cost-effective network. 1 to 2 strands are ideal for simple, point-to-point connections in small setups. 4 to 24 strands provide scalability for organizations with growing data needs, such as multi-floor offices or moderate campus networks. For strand counts above 36, subunitized designs enhance manageability in high-density configurations like data centers or metro-area networks. These higher strands, including 96 and 144, serve as the backbone for large campuses or cross-regional networks, offering unparalleled capacity and reliability while supporting intricate segmentation and extended scalability.

Typical Applications by Industry

  • Telecommunications: Provides uninterrupted long-distance connectivity for backbone and access networks.
  • Data Centers: Enables consistent, high-speed connections between servers, racks, and switches.
  • Educational Institutions: Powers campus-wide networks for classrooms, labs, and administrative operations.
  • Healthcare Facilities: Handles secure and stable connectivity for medical imaging, diagnostics, and telehealth systems.
  • Government and Enterprise: Supports large-scale data transmission with enhanced security for mission-critical environments.
  • Industrial Automation: Delivers robust data links for IoT-enabled systems and manufacturing operations in adverse environments.

  • Pulling Eye Option: Available for one or both ends, simplifying installation in conduit systems.
  • Breakout Length: 14 inches (staggered per pair).

Testing

Every assembly undergoes rigorous Insertion Loss (IL ≤ 0.2dB) and Return Loss (RL ≥ -55dB) testing, ensuring top performance in environments with operating temperatures from -40°C to +70°C.

Why 18-Strand is the Best Fit for These Applications

The 18-strand assembly caters to high-capacity networks requiring redundant paths for diverse systems. It is particularly beneficial for mid-sized data centers or facilities managing resource-heavy operations, such as streaming or IoT-enabled processes.

Compared to 12-strand options, the 18-strand assembly increases operational resilience by accommodating larger loads or additional systems. It avoids the scale of higher strand counts like 36, which might be overkill for projects limited to a single campus or mid-level facility.

For enterprises balancing current necessities and potential demands, the 18-strand assembly provides a strong foundation for long-term success.

Questions & Answers

Q
What is a pre-terminated fiber optic assembly?
A
A pre-terminated fiber optic assembly is a complete optical cable solution that comes with connectors already attached to the fiber strands. These assemblies include components such as fiber cables, connectors, protective jackets, and pulling eyes, all designed to provide a seamless installation experience.
Q
What length options are there for pre-terminated assemblies?
A
Pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies can be custom ordered to your desired length (10 feet or up to 5,000 feet.) according to your specific requirements. The assemblies are made to order based on the length you need. All assemblies 100ft and over will be placed on a spool for easy installation. Assemblies under 100ft will be neatly air spooled.
Q
What is a pulling eye?
A
A pulling eye is an additional attachment on pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies designed to facilitate installation. It provides a sturdy attachment point for your pull string or rope, allowing you to pull the cable through conduits or tight spaces without damaging the connectors or fiber strands. The benefit of using a pulling eye is that it reduces the risk of damage during installation, especially in complex pathways or confined spaces.
Q
What connectors can it get on fiber optic assembly?
A
Common connector types available for pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies include LC, SC, ST, FC, and MTP/MPO connectors. Connectors are staggered to reduce the pulling basket diameter and promote an easy and more flexible cable pull. Plastic wrap is also applied to prevent contamination during installation
Q
What is a LC connector?
A
An LC (Lucent Connector) connector is one of the most common types of cable connectors used in fiber optic networks. It utilizes a 1.25mm ferrule (half that of FC, SC, and ST) and push-pull latch mechanism for secure and easy connections
