Many fiber optic network bids and Requests For Quote (RFQ) are citing cabling standards to specify guidelines (such as fiber length) that network installers must follow. Adherence to such standards ensures installation quality and guarantees optimal network performance.
The process of testing a network installation to ensure adherence to specified standards is called certification, often requiring hard-copy documentation as proof of adherence.
The Fiber OWL 7 SM/VFL Test Kit contains the tools necessary for certifying fiber optic links against a myriad of popular cabling standards in singlemode networks, commonly referred to in the industry as Tier 1 certification.
The Fiber OWL 7 (p/n: F7) optical power meter is singlemode ready, containing a user-friendly Fiber Link Wizard with color diagrams to guide the setup process, calculate the link budget, and set the optical reference. Up to 10,000 fiber runs may be stored in internal memory and downloaded to a PC for report generation with OWLView software.
The WaveSource Pro SM/VFL (p/n: WPSV) fiber optic light source is designed for accurate testing and certification of singlemode networks (1310nm & 1550nm). Its dual-wavelength outputs are temperature-stabilized for accurate measurements. The light source comes configured with SC connector ports.
The WPSV has a built-in auto-wavelength switching protocol designed to synchronize the wavelength of the F7 with the current output wavelength, and its integrated VFL port allows for easy visual fault location and fiber identification.
Intelligent automated testing functions include automatic dual-wavelength storage and auto-wavelength recognition, reducing testing time and human error.
The universal detector port on the F7 comes with two adapter caps, one for 2.5mm connectors (SC, ST, FC) and the other for 1.25mm connectors (LC).

LANshack: Best custom CAT8 ethernet cable on the market!
I needed a custom 55 foot S/FTP (Shielded Foiled Twisted Pair) CAT8 indoor ethernet cable for ethernet backhaul between two Eero mesh routers. I did tons of research (including Grok) and I came across LANshack.com. They have the thickest 23AWG wire in their custom CAT8 cable vs 26AWG on Amazon (lower number is thicker; 23AWG wire has roughly twice the cross-sectional area of 26AWG). Excellent price per foot, and this cable is thick! Very quick turnaround once you order from them. I am very pleased with LANshack and I will order from them again for future projects!
