Our Corning® SST-Ribbon™ Gel-Free Drop Outdoor (OSP) Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies are rated for almost all outdoor applications. This cable is unique since it's self-supporting, meaning it can be installed aerially without a messenger, while also being durable enough for direct burial installations. If directly burying and rodents are a concern, we do recommend using our armored outdoor direct burial cable or using a conduit for extra protection. This cable is also perfect for installations inside conduit and pathways that are subjected to wide temperature variations or secured to a building or other permanent outdoor structure. It's rugged all dielectric design makes it a popular choice for a variety of outdoor installations. Our outdoor (OSP) pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies are perfect for headend termination to a fiber backbone and intra-building backbones. If installing in conduit we recommend using at least a 2 1/2" diameter conduit to accommodate for the assembly breakout.

What is aerial span length without a messenger, and what dead-end support do yo recommend for this corning sst / adss fiber?
The Corning SST ribbon cable you’re using is an all-dielectric, non-self-supporting design, so it is not intended for long aerial spans without a messenger or lashing support. Corning does not publish a fixed “maximum span length” for unsupported aerial installation, as span capability depends on variables like wind/ice loading, temperature, and allowable sag. That said, the cable’s long-term tensile rating is 890 N (200 lbf), which is the key limiting factor for aerial use. You would want to use a messenger wire (lashed aerial) for most spans or keep unsupported spans very short and engineered case-by-case. For this Corning SST cable, we recommend using a dielectric wedge-style dead-end clamp sized to the cable diameter (typically ~10–18 mm depending on fiber count). Since SST is not a full ADSS cable, it’s best suited for short aerial spans or lashed messenger applications, so a light-duty ADSS/drop-style dead-end clamp is appropriate rather than a long-span ADSS grip.

LANshack: Best custom CAT8 ethernet cable on the market!
I needed a custom 55 foot S/FTP (Shielded Foiled Twisted Pair) CAT8 indoor ethernet cable for ethernet backhaul between two Eero mesh routers. I did tons of research (including Grok) and I came across LANshack.com. They have the thickest 23AWG wire in their custom CAT8 cable vs 26AWG on Amazon (lower number is thicker; 23AWG wire has roughly twice the cross-sectional area of 26AWG). Excellent price per foot, and this cable is thick! Very quick turnaround once you order from them. I am very pleased with LANshack and I will order from them again for future projects!
